Total Car Score is one of the most well respected automotive ranking and comparison websites and earlier today, the site announced the first annual Top Scoring Car Awards. The awards covered all of the major vehicle segments for 2012 and were based on Total Car Score’s own ranking system. The Total Car Score combines the scores from all of the major auto review and rating sites online and puts them into one place. This allows visitors to get a reliable representation of the car without searching all over the web.
Three Toyota vehicles were honored with a Top Scoring Car Award for their category. The Toyota Camry Hybrid won in the midsize sedan/wagon class the Avalon won in the large sedan/wagon class and the Tundra won in the large truck class.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid is a family sedan with fuel efficiency that competes with most compact cars. It is powered by a 2.5 liter, four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that have a combined power output of 200 horsepower. The electric motor helps with low speed driving and acts as a starter when the gas engine is shut down during stops.
The Toyota Avalon is Toyota’s full-size sedan offering with plenty of space, power, and options that make it a competitor even among the best of large sedans. It is powered by a 3.5 liter, V6 engine producing 268 horsepower and 248 ft lbs of torque. The Avalon gets an EPA estimated 28 MPG on the highway which is quite respectable for a full-size sedan
Offering just about every option you could ask for in a full-size truck, the Toyota Tundra has quickly become a serious competitor in the pickup world. It is powered by one of three engines: the 4.0 liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 ft lbs of torque, the 4.6 liter V8 with 310 horsepower and 327 ft lbs of torque, and the 5.7 liter V8 offering 381 horsepower and 401 ft lbs of torque. The Tundra is also well known for having passenger-friendly cabins that are more livable and have more day-to-day utility.
