Just last week, the newly redesigned 2013 Toyota RAV4 was revealed at the LA Auto Show! Often referred to as “The World’s First Crossover SUV,” the vehicle now enters its fourth generation since its introduction in 1994. Keeping true to a long tradition of capability, fuel efficiency, and fun, the new RAV4 also brings new styling, technology, and handling capabilities to the game.
The RAV4’s fuel efficient 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder engine will put power to either the front wheels or all four wheels through a brand new 6-speed transmission that has been optimized for both city and highway driving. Toyota claims that first and second gear ratios will be optimized for low speed cruising around town while fifth and sixth gear will be overdrives, keeping revs low at highways speed to save fuel.
A brand new Sport Mode with Dynamic Torque Control AWD, tuned suspension, and other handling changes add some sport to the SUV’s ride also. In Sport Mode, shift timing, throttle response, and steering feel are all adjusted for a more involved driving experience.
Perhaps the first thing most people will notice though, the styling is much different than ever before and the iconic rear spare-tire storage has been removed in favor of trunk-stored tire. Stop by Cumberland Toyota as soon as the new RAV4 is available to see one for yourself.
